Our third grade, 8 and 9 year old, Bear Scouts’ year focuses on strengthening their woodworking skills (both tools for building and knives for whittling), basic campsite setup, wildlife observation, horticulture, and community awareness. Along the way, they have the opportunity to work on electives including fishing, crafting musical instruments, meal planning, Native American history, animal husbandry, forensic science, community service, rudimentary mechanical engineering, learn various ways to play with a classic toy (marbles), practice comedic timing, explore the basic principles of robotics, swimming, and the scientific method.
The Bear Den leadership consists of Iris King, and her husband, Dwight, who have been long standing members of our pack. They began their Scouting journey with their older son, Kweli, who is now a Boy Scout. Their younger son, Khalil, is now in his third year with our pack. The King family have also consistantly been a top seller in our annual Popcorn Fundraiser. Way to go!
